Isle of Iona travel tips

The main ferry operator from Oban on the mainland to the Isle of Mull is Calmac - www.calmac.co.uk

The ferry journey to Mull takes just under an hour and excellent views throughout the journey can be enjoyed from the ship's promenade deck. The ship takes 80 cars and 972 passengers. Advance car booking is recommended.

Once at Craignure, where the ferry docks, drive or take a coach to Fionnphort from which the regular small ferry crossing operated by Calmac takes you to Iona. Martyrs Bay shop and Rooms is almost right at the ferry terminal. Again visit www.calmac.co.uk or call 0990 650000 for details.

In the season in particular, a number of local Oban coach tour operators run excellent day trips to Mull, Iona and Staffa. The main operator is West Coast Tours
